Summer project

As the dread sunshine does creep through the sky
So the goth crowd roll their eyes, and apply
A suitable layer of the protective cream
Praise be to the gods of the magic sun screen!

OK, so that's a bit of an exaggeration, but I am not a great fan of too much sun. However, in the spirit of keeping it spooky-but-summery this pattern is up for consideration.
Probably in black, though.
That is surely the rule!

Belated: Hallowe'en

Huzzah for Halloween!
Decided to work the Dia de los Muertos vibe with my peasant outift and bead-studded mask.
Just need to get hold of the photos!

Dead-Head bowling and ghastly gastromomy were the order of the day.

Keep putting off taking the decorations down...

Other people's UFOs

A month or two ago, I bought some chunks of fabric from a charity shop. I only got around to looking at them recently and found one piece was a partly made skirt.

There were marks for darts in the top & a zip attached, so I took on the project and finished it - sticking to the original marks as near as possible (but still making it fit!).

The final item is a slightly a-line skirt - enough of a dome for a stiff petticoat - though the waist is a little stick-out-y, a corset soon fixes the problem.

Who made the original? Why did it never get finished?

I wonder if I wear it out in town if someone will ID it as their own...?

September Pt 1

Not been on for a while due to illness and family problems, but I did manage some self stitched September style!

Here we have knitting projects:
the Black Cherry Cardi - with ickle red cherry buttons.

And the Red-Headed Sleeve Cardi - with apologies to Sherlock Holmes!

Getting there... sewing projects

Well, thanks to an Ikea table I actually have a surface for the sewing machine that's not 10 inches off the floor.
My back thanks you, Ikea.

So this weekend, I've been getting on with (1)the 'shrug', (2)the refashioned mini dress and (3) the no-pattern challenge.

1 is partly sleeved - and in need of hemming - not sure I am happy yet with the sleeves

2 needs tidying up with some hand-sewing but is otherwise OK to wear - Yay!

3 is a pointy pixie-goth skirt made from assorted isosceles triangles with a waist band round the top. Needs hemming or overlocking round the pointy bits and some elastic for the waist - working on it!

Sadly no pics yet due to not having pooter at the weekend, but it's coming along!

Huzzah for second-hand patterns!

I shall be looking for some fabric to do the simple design justice.

Sewing Project - Sweetie!

So, here's the theory.

Collect lots of wrappers from sweetie/candy/chocolate bars/treats.

Sew them together to make a 'fabric'.

Make fabric into an a-line skirt to go with swishy petticoats.

Possibly be chased by wasps if any sugar remains in the fabric.

It's a long term project as I can't eat that much and still fit in a skirt, but it's my 2010 project!

Spooky's Skirt

Provided the weather behaves this weekend (don't hold your breath!) I shall ask for Spooky fiance's assistance in photographing my official "First Skirt I Made" project.

Here's hoping...

(Oh dear, visiting friends and the (whisper it) football changed the schedule. I'll get a picture at some point!)

Self Stitched September

After being an avid blog-reader for the marvel of Me-Made-May, I have taken the plunge and signed up to 'So, Zo's Self-Stitched-September.

Can't wait to see the inspiring designs that come out of this challenge.
